To place a bid on an item, click [Place Bid Now] on the right. If you want to buy the item directly, click [Buy Now].
On the bidding page, enter the maximum bid/quantity, select the bidding method, and then click [Confirm Bid].
Maximum Bid: The highest amount you are willing to bid. This amount is not necessarily the final winning bid amount. For example, if the current price is 1000 yen (another bidder has already bid 1000 yen), and your maximum bid amount is 2000 yen, the current price will be raised to 1100 yen (current price + minimum bid increment). If no other bids are placed before the auction ends and there is no reserve price set by the seller, you can win the item for 1100 yen. If the previous bidder has set a maximum bid of 1500 yen, you will win the item for 1600 yen.
Bid Quantity: Some items have multiple units available for bidding, allowing you to bid on multiple units at once.
Bidding Method: It is recommended to choose "Last Bid," where the system will automatically place your bid on Yahoo Japan Auctions 360-480 seconds before the auction ends.
Using [Last Bid], you can freely modify the bid quantity/amount or cancel the bid until ten minutes before the auction ends, allowing you to bid with peace of mind. If you choose [Place Bid Now], the system will immediately send your bid information to Yahoo Japan Auctions.
Minimum bid increment rules, as shown in the table below:
For example: If the current price is 1380 yen, the minimum bid amount must be any amount above 1480 yen (1481 yen or 1582 yen). If you bid 1450 yen or 1479 yen, the bid will fail.
Common Winning Issues
Q: If your preset maximum bid [final bid amount] matches your [bid amount], but you did not win?
A:
Yahoo Auctions prioritize the highest bidder by who bid first. If your highest bid is the same as another bidder's, the auction will prioritize the first bidder.
For example: If the current price is 1000 yen (another bidder's highest bid is 2000 yen), and your maximum bid is also 2000 yen, the final winner will be the first bidder, not you.
After a successful bid, you will see the following message.
If the bid fails, you will see the following message. Please choose to increase your bid or return to the item page.
In [Account Overview > Auction Area > Items Being Bid On], you can view all items being bid on.
Buy It Now Price
Some auction items offer a direct purchase (Buy It Now) price. Click [Buy Now].
On the bid confirmation page, confirm the quantity and click Buy Now, then click [Confirm Bid].
After a successful bid, you will see the following message. Using the "Buy Now" method, you will win the item directly.
In [Account Overview > Auction Area > Bidding Won Items], you can view all won items.
Modify Bid Amount/Increase Bid/Cancel Bid
A:
In [Account Overview > Auction Area > Items Being Bid On], you can view all items being bid on.
If you use [Last Bid], you can modify the bid or cancel it anytime until ten minutes before the auction ends.
If you use [Place Bid Now], you can use "Increase Bid" to adjust the bid amount, but it must not be lower than your initial bid amount.
If you are the highest bidder, you cannot choose [Cancel Bid]. You can only cancel your bid if another bidder exceeds your bid amount.
Q: Automatic Extension
A:
If the item information shows [Automatic Extension: Yes], the auction end time will be extended by five minutes if a new bid is placed within the last five minutes before the auction ends.
For example: If an item is set to [Automatic Extension: Yes] and the original end time is 2021/10/22 21:00, if a new bid is placed at 20:57, the end time will be extended to 21:02. If another new bid is placed at 21:01, the end time will be extended to 21:06, and so on.
Q: Early Termination
A:
If the seller has "end auction early" setting, usually you can communicate with the seller through Q&A to turn on that setting. If the seller agrees to end the auction early, the highest bidder at the time of the auction ending will be the winner.
